What's covered in this guide?:
Before you start
Workforce connects to Shopify to import your sales and transaction data automatically, so you can build rotas around real customer demand.
Because of Shopify’s rules for third-party apps, you need to create a custom app in your own Shopify account first, then connect it to Workforce.
Set up a custom app in Shopify
Log in to Shopify.
Go to Apps > App settings.
Click Develop apps > Build apps in Dev Dashboard.
Click Create app.
Name the app and click Create.
Under API access, enter:
read_locations,read_orders,read_productsThe other settings on this page are optional, but these three scopes must be entered for the integration to work.
Scroll down and click Release.
On the app overview page, click Install app.
Choose the store you want to connect to Workforce.
On the confirmation page, check what the app can access, then click Install.
Connect Shopify in Workforce
To connect shopify in Workforce:
Go to Settings > Integrations > POS Integrations.
Click Add Integration and choose Shopify.
Fill in the connection form:
Integration name: optional.
Shopify store URL: your myshopify.com address, for example mystore.myshopify.com. You’ll find it in your Shopify settings.
Client ID and Client secret: in Shopify, open your app’s settings in the Dev Dashboard.
Include tax in revenue data and Include tips when importing revenue: optional.
Split revenue by category: optional. See below.
Click Save.
💡 Tip: If the connection fails, check the app is installed on the store you entered, it has all three scopes, and the Client ID and Client secret are from that app.
Your sales data streams
Workforce creates a data stream for each of your Shopify locations, usually within about 5 minutes of connecting. After that, sales are imported every 15 minutes.
New data streams are joined to your whole organisation to start with. To see sales for a location or team, go to Rota Planning > Data Streams, open the stream and change its joins. See Configure your Sales, Revenue, Budgets & Demand Data.
Split revenue by category
If you tick Split revenue by category, Workforce creates a separate stream for each Shopify product type at each location. Sales for items with no product type go into an Uncategorised stream.
⚠️ Important: Up to 30 categories per location get their own stream. Sales in any extra categories aren’t imported.

Labour Budgets: compare your labour budget against predicted revenue.
Rota statistics: show predicted sales, Wage % Revenue and other figures on your rota.
Cost reports: compare actual and predicted revenue with your labour costs.
FAQs
Shopify is connected but no sales are showing. Why?
Shopify is connected but no sales are showing. Why?
Joins: the data stream is joined to your organisation by default. If you’re looking at a location or team, join the stream there.
Split revenue by category is on: sales go to the category streams, not the main location stream. Check the category streams are joined where you expect.
Credentials: the app must be installed on the store you entered, with the read_orders, read_locations and read_products scopes.
If it still isn’t working, contact Workforce support.
Why are there more data streams than I expected?
Why are there more data streams than I expected?
Workforce creates one stream for each Shopify location. If Split revenue by category is on, it also creates one stream for each product type at each location, plus an Uncategorised stream.
