Set leave year start date
In order for our system to to reset your leave balances, you will need to enter a Leave Year Start date.
The leave year start date is the date at which the leave balance will be reset. To insert a leave year start date, go to Settings > All Settings > All Time Off Settings. Enter in the leave year start date and save at the bottom of the page.
It is also possible to set a custom leave year start date for each individual employee. Learn how here.
Create a Leave Type
After you've set your leave year start date, you will want to create a leave type. After you've created a leave type, you'll then be able to set it to reset or rollover.
To create a leave type, we recommend using the following guides, depending on if the leave type is in days or hours:
Set your Leave Type to reset
In Advanced Settings, you can tick the box "Reset this leave balance at the start of a new leave year" to ensure the leave type will reset at the start of a new leave year.
Set up your Leave Type to rollover
If you allow leave balances to roll over at the start of a new leave year, you may enter a maximum amount to rollover from the previous leave year:
How do Leave Year Resets work
Any leave type configured to reset to the 'Leave Entitlement' or rollover will do so at the start of the new leave year (see how to set your leave year start date here).
β
Example for resets
If the 'Leave Entitlement' for a leave type is 224 hours and a staff's current leave balance is 20 hours, the balance will be reset to 224hours upon the new leave year start date.
Example for rollovers
If the 'Leave Entitlement' for a leave type is 224 hours, you have a maximum rollover amount of 10 hours, and a staff's current leave balance is 20 hours, the balance will be reset to 234 hours upon the new leave year start date.
π Important to Note: If the leave type is an "accrual" leave type and doesn't have a Leave Entitlement, then the leave balance will be reset to 0.
