How to submit leave requests and manage availability

Updated over a week ago

Staff apply for leave and unavailability through the Employee app, or online at my.workforce.com

  • Leave is used to request specific periods of time off work. For example, Annual Leave, or Personal Leave. A leave request is required for each period of leave you apply for

  • Unavailability is used to enter times when you are unavailable to work. You can nominate the same times each week on a repeating basis with a single leave unavailability request

How to apply for leave

On the mobile app, select the Action menu icon and select the Leave & availability option. To enter a new request click the ' + ' icon in the top right corner. You can also attach a medical certificate to your request.

Complete your leave request by following the steps below:

  1. Select whether the leave request covers One day or Multiple days

  2. Enter the applicable date/s (this can be past dates - so long as it's past the start date of the employee).

  3. Select a leave type

  4. Keep 'All day' selected if your leave request is for whole days, or toggle to 'Between the hours of...' if you would like to select specific times the leave should apply to

  5. (Optional) enter a leave reason

  6. (Optional) the estimated total hours of your leave request is shown. If you would like to request a different amount, you can edit this number. Managers will see both your suggested number and Workforce.com's suggested number when they receive your request

  7. (Optional) upload an attachment. This is useful if you need to provide any form of evidence or document such as a medical certificate

After clicking Submit, your manager is notified of the leave request. You can check back to the leave page on your app to see if the leave request has been approved.

How to confirm unavailability

Unavailability helps managers to build schedules by seeing the times you're unavailable to work. Unavailability requests require the following details:

  • Whether the request is a one off, or repeats each week

  • The dates or days each week that the unavailability applies to

  • Whether the unavailability applies All day or Between the hours of a certain timeframe

  • What times unavailability Between the hours of should apply to

  • If the unavailability repeats each week, choose whether it repeats forever, or between certain dates e.g. the first semester of university

  • If Between the dates option is selected, enter which dates the request should apply to

  • (Required) Reason for your unavailability

Like leave requests, check back to the page to see the status of your request.

In a web browser

Both leave and unavailability can also be entered by logging in online at my.workforce.com

  • Log in to your Workforce.com account atmy.workforce.com

  • To enter a Leave or unavailability request, navigate to Leave > Requests

  • Click on the green + New Leave Request button in the top right corner and select Leave or Unavailability

  • Follow the same steps detailed in the Leave section of this article
