Access Company Setup
To access your company payroll settings:
Navigate to Payroll
Select Payroll Settings
Click Company Setup
From here, you can configure your payroll details across the following tabs:
HMRC Settings
Tracking Categories
Bank Details
General Setting
HMRC Settings
To add your PAYE details and Government Gateway credentials for RTI submissions:
Navigate to Payroll > Payroll Settings > Company Setup
Select the HMRC Settings tab
Enter the following details:
Business name – The full legal name of your business. The Business name field has a 35-character limit.
Who should this company file apply to? – Choose who this company file applies to:
Everyone
Reporting Location
Pay Group
No one
HMRC accounts office reference – The 13-character reference used for PAYE payments
Tax office number – The first 3 digits of your PAYE reference
Tax office reference – The remaining characters after the slash in your PAYE reference
Government Gateway User ID – Your HMRC login ID
Government Gateway Password – Your HMRC password
Self assessment unique taxpayer reference (UTR) – Your 10-digit UTR number
Corporation tax reference (UTR) – Your 10-digit Corporation Tax reference
Registered address – Your official registered business address
Company logo – Upload a logo for payslips
Click Update
📝 Important to note:
All details must match HMRC records exactly to avoid RTI submission failures.
Tracking Categories
Use tracking categories to group payroll data, such as by location or department.
Select the Tracking Categories tab
Click + Add Tracking Category
Enter a category name
Save your changes
Assign tracking category values to teams in Workforce Management
💡 Tip:
Tracking categories are useful if your business operates across multiple locations, departments, or reporting groups.
Bank Details
Add the bank account used to pay employees via BACS.
1. Select the Bank Details tab
2. Select your Bank from the dropdown
Available options include:
Bacs Standard 18
Barclays
HSBC
Lloyds
NatWest
Santander
If your bank is not listed, select Bacs Standard 18.
3. Enter the following details:
Account Name
Account Number
Sort Code
Service User Number (SUN) – Provided by your bank
4. Save your changes
📝 Important to note:
Your bank details are used when paying employees via BACS.
General Settings
Configure payroll document security.
Select the General Settings tab
Enable or disable Password protected payroll documents
When enabled:
Payslips, P45s, and P60s are password protected
Passwords are generated using:
The first 4 letters of the employee’s surname in lowercase, plus their NI number
If no NI number is available, their surname and date of birth in DDMMYYYY format
Click Update

Enable password protection to improve security when sending payroll documents by email.
