Understanding Clock-In Restrictions and How to Resolve Them

Updated over a week ago

Clock-in Blocked Error

If you're being blocked from clocking in, the reason should appear underneath the Clock In button.

If you're unsure what the message means or if no reason is displayed below is a list of possible reasons, their meanings, and how to resolve them:

Missing Camera or Location Permission

Ensure that both Camera and Location permissions are enabled in your device settings for the Workforce

Too Early

Your account is set up to block early clock-ins. This means you're attempting to clock in too early for your scheduled shift. Check your scheduled start time or speak with a manager to confirm the early clock-in threshold.

Offsite

This error occurs when you're outside the approved location radius for your shift. Please ensure you're physically at the correct location when clocking in.

Too late

Similar to "Too Early", this setting blocks you if you're too late for your scheduled shift. Double-check your shift time and inform a manager if needed.

Clock-In Blocking Pay Checks

We have enabled Pay Checks that may prevent clock-ins if certain requirements aren't met. These checks run at the time of clock-in and will show an error if any enabled check fails.

Currently, these checks include:

  • Incomplete employee onboarding

  • Unsigned contract

  • Unacknowledged document(s)

  • Attempted clock-in before employment start date

  • Attempted clock-in after employment end date

To manage these settings, go to: Settings > Timesheets, and scroll down to configure Pay Checks as Blocking, Warning, or Disabled.

Note:

  • The Timeclock app must be on version 6.2.21 or later for Pay Check blocks to apply.

  • These checks do not run for offline clock-ins.
