What’s covered in this guide?
Overview
You can connect Claude to your Workforce.com account and ask questions about your workforce in plain English, such as "Who's rostered on next Monday?", "How much annual leave does Sam have?" or "What changed between the last two pay runs?". Claude uses the connection to get the information directly from Workforce.com.
The connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants connect securely to other software.
Before you start
Any Workforce.com user can connect. Sign in with your normal Workforce.com login.
You only see what you can already see. Claude uses your existing Workforce.com permissions. For example, if you can't view staff wages or payroll in Workforce.com, Claude can't either.
The connection is read-only. Claude can look up information but can't make changes in Workforce.com. It can't approve timesheets, edit rosters or run pay.
You authorise the connection. When you connect, Workforce.com shows an authorisation screen listing everything Claude is asking to access, such as leave, payroll, rosters, timesheets, training and employee information. You approve it all at once by clicking Authorise, or click Deny to cancel.
📝 Important to note: Connecting Claude doesn't give you any extra permissions in Workforce.com. You can only access information your Workforce.com role already lets you view.
What you can ask about
Area | Examples |
People | Active and inactive staff, your own profile, and an employee's change history, such as "Who changed Sam's pay rate and when?" |
Rosters and schedules | The roster for a given week, planned shifts, on-calls, sleepovers, rostered days off and roster costs |
Time and attendance | Worked shifts, timesheets, approval status and timesheet costs |
Leave | Leave balances and leave requests |
Payroll | Payslips, and a comparison of your latest pay run with the previous one |
Setup | Locations, teams, award templates, award tags and qualifications |
Training | Training assigned to staff and each person's progress |
📝 Important to note: Each area needs its own access, which you approve on the authorisation screen. Some information also needs the matching Workforce.com permission, such as permission to view staff costs, wages or payroll. Training also needs an HR subscription.
Example questions
You could ask Claude:
"List everyone at the Bondi location."
"Show me next week's roster and the total cost per day."
"Which timesheets from last week haven't been approved yet?"
"How much sick leave does Alex Chen have left?"
"Summarise the biggest differences between this pay run and the last one."
"What changed on Priya's profile in the last three months?"

Working across several organisations
If you have access to more than one organisation, for example as an accountant or partner managing client accounts, you can ask:
"Which organisations can I access?"
and then name the one you want:
"Show me the roster for Acme Café next week."
If you don't name an organisation, the assistant uses your default one.
