Add recurring contributions and deductions onto staff profiles

Create a Deduction or ContributionType

To create a deduction or contribution type, go to Payroll > Payroll Settings > and select 'Deduction Types' or 'Employer Contribution Types'

Select from the list of deduction/ contribution types or choose to add a new deduction/contribution.

When creating a new deduction type, complete the following information.

When creating a new contribution type, complete the following information.

  • Name

  • Journal Accounts

  • Select if the contribution is a health benefit

  • Select if the contribution is taxable


Accessing employee deductions or contributions

To access employee deductions and contributions for a staff member, go to Staff > Select the staff member you'd like to edit > Payroll > Payroll details


Add recurring deductions or contributions

On the employees Payroll Details, select '+ ADD' to create a new deduction or contribution.

Select if each deduction/contribution should be a fixed amount or percent of income.

Once added, the deduction/contribution will automatically apply to each paycheck.

Filing Deductions or Contributions

The employer is ultimately responsible for managing and paying deductions and contributions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, Workforce.com does not handle these payments on your behalf. The funds will remain in your account, and it will be your responsibility to file and remit them appropriately.

FAQ

  • Why can't I add a deduction/contribution type on the employee profile?

    • The deduction/contribution type needs to be created and configured in payroll settings before it will show on the employees profile.

  • What should I do if I'm not sure what the fixed amount or percent of income should be?

    • Please consult your benefits provider. If Workforce.com is your benefits provider, email support@workforce.com.
